The Patient Advisory Group is a group of people based across Scotland with an interest in healthcare research. The group is facilitated by Carol Porteous. We were set up in June 2013 and continue to grow and get involved in more activities as time goes on. About the Patient Advisory GroupCarol and the Patient Advisory Group are able to assist in a range of topics, including:Work with you to identify the best methods of involvement for your study or research programmeHelp you to find people to involveRevise patient information sheets and lay summaries to ensure they are clear and understandable to lay peopleHelp you with costing patient involvement into your grant applicationReview information booklets and websites aimed at patients or a public audienceProvide training for patient and public involvement in research, through five courses which cover various aspects of PPI in research, including introducing PPI in research, PPI in funding applications and writing in plain English We can also provide tailored training for specific groupsReview grant applications, IRAS forms and publications pre-submissionAdvise on bursaries for patient and public involvement, providing a small amount of funding for researchers to consult patients at the grant application stageGive talks to professional and student audiences about their personal experiences of involvementAdvise on public engagement activitiesImage This article was published on 2025-09-15
