Step-by-step guidance on the ethical review process including details on what to do before submitting an application, during the committee meeting and after gaining ethical approval.  REC staff will provide advice on submitting the correct paperwork and their opinions on what information is required for a successful application.

Objectives:

  • Gain an understanding of when NHS ethical approval is required or not.
  • Understand the process for applying for NHS ethics review.
  • Discuss ethical issues with research ethics committee members.
  • Comprehend the range of issues the research ethics committee members consider when reviewing applications.

This course is free-of-charge for staff and students of the University of Edinburgh (UoE) and NHS Lothian (NHSL) - booking is still required.
